Until recently Head of Law, Accountancy, Hospitality, Tourism and Events and Anglia Ruskin University London, and now resposible for Employability at the London centres. Prior to this an academic career that includes Programme Director and Dean at BPP University.

Shahzad Ali – Tutor

Shahzad is a qualified chartered accountant and is a widely respected authority on both Taxation and Accounting for Solicitors. Having held Senior Lecturer positions at several premium Universities, his teaching style is clear and methodical, which will help you to approach your SQE1 exams with confidence.

Charley Dugdale – Tutor

Charley spent her early career working as a Police Officer including 999 response, proactive investigation and the prisoner interview and intelligence team. She now undertakes work as a Mental Health Act review manager focussing on complex cases such as forensic secure units, and for young people detained under the Act. Charley has a first class LLB Law degree and an LLM in International Law, and is now conducting her doctoral research on the effects of short-term prison sentences. She holds lecturing positions at different Universities specialising in Criminal Litigation, Comparative Public Law and Child Law.
Charley was a Judge in this year’s International Client Consultation and Interviewing competition and remains an active advocate for Amicus ALJ a charity that supports those on Death Row in America.

Sean Brennan – Tutor

Sean has over thirty years’ experience of teaching law at degree and post-graduate level for a variety of Universities including Staffordshire, John Moores, Humberside and the University of London (International) degree at a variety of international colleges in London
Sean has a QLD from the University of Liverpool and a Masters in Socio-Legal Studies from the University of Sheffield.
Sean works as a private legal consultant on matters such as Wills, Trusts and Employment Law and has also worked pro bono as Press Officer for North Staffordshire Liberty (a Human Rights organisation).

Alex Lawson – Tutor

Alex Lawson holds Batchelors and Masters degrees in Law from Durham University.

Alex has nearly twenty-five years of experience teaching various legal subjects at several prestigious Universities, both in the United Kingdom and overseas and specialises in English Legal System, Constitutional and Administrative Law and Legal Research. Alex is also an expert on Public International Law and has delivered conference papers on human rights culture. His specific field of interest is human rights and religious expression.

He has also been a school governor and external examiner.

Alex really likes sport and is a supporter of Leicester City Football Club

Professional Preparatory Workshops

The LSS Professional Preparatory Workshop 1 is FREE and has been specifically designed for students aiming to successfully complete the new Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) . The principal objective is to provide students with guidance on effective assessment preparation and an opportunity to practice the assessment format i.e. answering Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ).

In terms of structure, the workshop is divided into two parts:

(A) Preparation for the Assessment, and

(B) MCQ Practice.

The workshop is run by experts in that area of law, normally lasts 1.5/2 hour online on ‘Zoom’ platform and will include the various areas of SQE1 study and substantive law – these are held every two weeks from February 2022. Subsequent workshop will cost just £35 (inc vat) each – and paid for as taken.
